In the summer of 1985, I (Gary Wiens) met Mike Bickle and Bob Jones, who were associated with Kansas City Fellowship. I was part of the Vineyard movement at the time, and over the following number of years, I began to resonate deeply with the call to intimacy and prayer coming from Kansas City. It was part of the fulfillment of God's promise in Isaiah 56:7 -- "I will bring even these to My holy mountain, and I will make them joyful in My house of prayer...

For My house shall be called a house of prayer for all nations."
In 1996 I became part of the pastoral staff with Mike, who was at the beginning of his transition from pastoring a church to leading the International House of Prayer, Kansas City. During that time, the Holy Spirit moved deeply in my heart about my own call to prayer and to the message of God calling us to worship, prayer and intercession. I spent the next eight years traveling around the world with this message, experiencing miracles, writing books such as Bridal Intercession, Come to PaPa and helping Mike build the House of Prayer.

After sensing that the Holy Spirit was leading us to the Pacific Northwest, my wife Marie and I began to hear from folks in that region who had been praying for years that an International House of Prayer would be established in the area of Tacoma. As we relocated here, many saw our move as a catalytic thing for the beginning of a new House of Prayer. Marie and I sought the Lord fervently about this, and came to the conclusion that this was how the Holy Spirit was leading us.

As we have responded to His lead, the Lord has gathered together over 100 different individuals who share this conviction of what God is doing. Singers, intercessors, those who play instruments -- all are coming to join in the House of Prayer. There is great anticipation and hope that this ministry of intercessory worship, singing the word of God with instruments, will spread over the Northwest region and help prepare the way for the physical return of Jesus to establish His Kingdom on the earth.

Our meeting times right now consist of "Teaching Weekends" in the Life Lounge, Friday evening from 7:00 PM to 10:00PM and Saturday Morning from 9:00AM to 12:00PM. The dates at present are June 20-21, July 18-19 and August 15-16. We are also meeting on every Wednesday night from 7:30pm to 10pm (same location) to train musicians, singers and prayer leaders in the Harp and Bowl model of intercessory worship.
